Mosiah 2:17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. #LightTheWorld I know you have all heard this from the many other wonderful missionaries. It is the churches new Christmas video this year. It is a wonderful portrayal of Jesus Christ serving God's children. It also shows how we can easily follow his example. This week I have been opening my eyes more for simple acts of service to do for the people here in New York City. It has been incredible. Thursday we had the amazing opportunity to feed over 2200 people Thanksgiving dinner. We helped Sister Mary a catholic nun make dinners for the wonderful people on the street. We had a long line of people waiting and would go and keep them company. We had about 16 missionaries there along with our Mission President. Everyone had talked with a mormon that day! It was incredible to be with them. And yes, we did make it to Chinatown and had fun with our two Chinese investigators! There first Thanksgiving was a hit :) on our way to the Subway, in the distance we could see the lights of Time Square! It was so crazy! The streets were empty and down a few more streets was the glow and chaos of the world. Very interesting and beautiful sight. Sunday was the first official day of simple service. After sacrament my wonderful companion and I offered to help Bishop's wife clean up after her kids. She was so touched and yet it was something that came so naturally. Monday was the best. The first act was simply picking up a piece of trash. It doesn't seem to big of a deal sense New York is filled with trash. But it is one less mess to clean up :) I offered to open the door, I gave someone a compliment and then to end my incredible night I helped a blind man. He was sitting on the train when I came in. I knew I needed to talk with him. I told him I liked his outfit, but of course I didn't even think of it, he didn't know I was talking to him. Then the train said it was turning express and we all got off. I then hurried over to him and asked if he needed help. He said no and so I started talking with him. He said "you sound so young and happy!" I said "Yes! I am a missionary for my church." He replied "What church?" "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!" "OH! You're a mormon! I am a Jehovah's Witness. We have lots to talk about." I laughed and our train came. I then guided him to the door and we started talking about the bible. I told him I love the bible and my favorite is Isaiah. He was so shocked! Then began our wonderful conversation of the amazing prophet Isaiah. We followed him to his stop and I got out again and helped him down the platform. He was smiling ear to ear as we parted. That is what service is all about. Not the recognition, but the smile and gratitude you see on their faces. I love it! This week has been full of answers to prayers. Fasting, praying and faith does miracles my wonderful friends. We have 4 new investigators who are all incredible and desire to follow Christ! One of them is so dear to my heart. Her name is Minaiel. This week we asked her to pray and ask if God loves her. She was afraid she wouldn't recieve an answer. We followed up the next day and she hadn't. I was so heartbroken for her that she was scared! Last night we talked about how all she needs to do is come to him. Well. We just recieved a text from her saying she prayed..... we asked her how it went and she said "I recieved an answer." "I feel so amazing today." "Thank you so much!" I LOVE MY GOD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST! They really do care about all of us and will answer our prayers! All we have to do is pray and ask for help. I love this gospel. I love these people. I love my life. I love you all!!! ♡ Sister Robison
